Project Details:
Junket Productions Inc., a is a New York-based producer of press junkets and satellite media tours. After nearly half a decade of being represented by an outdated and modest website, the organization came to xiik looking for a change that would tell their story, demonstrate their capabilities and highlight the high quality of their brand.
Our team developed a simple, yet engaging site that defines the company clearly, without using a lot of text or over-the-top effects. Starting with the vivid simplicity of the main page, which highlights stills of their recent work, the Junket story begins. Visitors can view detailed examples of their projects through the Productions page. To tell the history of Junket, we replaced their former text-based story with an interactive timeline that allows the user to move through the years from the company's beginnings over 30 years ago. Taking a further step into engaging storytelling, the Services page links to their Satellite Media Tours (SMT). This page demonstrates how an SMT works through the use of a video, consisting of live action, 2D artwork and 3D animation. The site also contains a live streaming video section (accessible only by clients) that allows the Junket team to demonstrate their work to any studio anywhere in the world through their website. Finally, the site also contains an administration section that allows the staff to update site information, and communicate with their crew and clients.
In the decision between Flash page transitions, menu movements and layout versus accessibility on mobile devices such as Apple's iPhone, the xiik team pushed for both. The look and feel behaves similarly enough to a Flash website that most casual users would not know the difference. However, the core of the site is built using a combination of HTML, Javascript and AJAX, meaning that over 90% can be viewed from mobile devices.
